First-Time Patients

  • International patients traveling from overseas are not allowed to be admitted to the hospital without the intermediation of EAJ unless there are special circumstances. Please contact us by email before you come to the hospital.
  • Lack of explanation or misunderstandings due to the deference of language may cause serious medical accident. We introduce a medical interpreter and ask you to come to this hospital with him/her in order to communicate correctly. In such case, patients will bear approximately 25,000yen for once (up to 4hours) to hire him/her. Please be sure to come with an interpreter.
    When you don’t agree with arranging a medical interpreter, please come with someone who can communicate in Japanese. In this case we will not be able to bear the responsibility of any damage caused by improper interpreting and so on unfortunately.

Outpatient Flow


Please submit "Health Insurance Card" and other certificates at the reception desk. You will be given "Patient Interview Form", please fill out and submit it. You can get a patient registration card, a reception ticket and a blue file. Please put the ticket in the file and wait at the waiting space.
If you have the letter of introduction from other hospital or images (such as CT or MRI) taken at other hospital, please submit at the desk before the consultation.

When your name is called, please enter the consultation room. If you need an examination, you can be taken before or after the consultation.


When your name is called at payment desk, please come and pay your medical bill. You will be given a prescription if the doctor ordered, please pick up your medicine at dispensing pharmacy outside the hospital.

About medical fee

At Iwai Orthopaedic Medical Hospital, all care for foreign nationals who do not have Japanese health insurance qualification is charged at a rate of 20 yen per 1 medical remuneration point. The same applies to Japanese citizens living overseas who do not have Japanese health insurance qualification.
